                 Atapattu who is the former Sri Lankan captain signed from his post of chief coach of the national cricket team. This decision was taken by him after back to back loss of the Test series against India.

                  Sri Lankan Cricket board in a statement announced that they have accepted the approval of Atapattu’s resignation. The 44-year-old Atapattu was the mainstay batsman of his time and also played 90 Test matches, 268 ODIs scoring 5502 and 8529 runs.

                    This resignation was taken after the two simultaneous defeat of Sri Lanka with Pakistan and India. Before assigning the full charge of the team, Mr Atapattu was the batting coach of the team from 2011 and also the interim head coach for some time.

                         According to cricket reports, SLC is likely to appoint former Sri Lankan batsman Chandika Hathurusinghe for the post as he has a good report with Bangladesh. The other name is also in air that is Graham Ford.
