The famous Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin received Arjuna Award, which was bestowed on him last year from sports Minister Sarabananda Sonowal.

The 28-year-old Chennai born cricketer has a record of fastest bowler in 80 years to complete 100 wickets in 19th test in 2013. Ashwin did not attend the award ceremony on August 29 2014 at Rashrapathi Bhavan as he was touring in England as a part of ODI.

Ravichandran bagged a total of 124 wickets in 25 Tests, 139 wickets in99 ODIs and 26 wickets in 25 T20 internationals. Speaking about the award the talented player said, "The journey has been pretty good so far. I have been very lucky, in a lot of aspects I thank God for that. To a greater degree I just played for the country and felt that I was very lucky and then to be conferred the Arjuna award today from the Sports Minister is a big honour. I hope I serve the country in a better fashion and get more awards."

This player is now going to Srilanka for a three-Test series which is beginning from August 12.
