The most popular Scientist, Former President of India APJ Abdul Kalam passed away on Monday, July 27. He collapsed while delivering a speech at IIM Shillong, Meghalaya. His body will be flown to Delhi on Tuesday morning and sources informed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will break protocol to receive his body in the national capital. Soon after the media reports on Modi breaking protocol for Dr Kalam surfaced, many started criticising Modi. Critics started commenting on micro blogging site Twitter. The critics recalled the infamous incident when Modi, as Gujarat Chief Minister, missed to attend Dr Verghese Kurien's funeral in Vadodara in 2012. Many had lashed out at Modi when he failed to pay tribute to the man who gifted Gujarat its legendry Amul brand. Modi, however, was in Nadiad, 20 km away from Vadodara on the same day. The then Gujarat CM had gone to Nadiad to inaugurate the new collectorate building. Media report also claimed that there were instances when many had witnessed confrontation between Modi and Kurien. Both reportedly had shared a soured relationship. Now, twitteratti said that Modi's decision to break protocol to receive Dr Kalam's body was nothing but media gimmick.
