Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Chennai to look around the situation in the regions which was effected by floods.

“Taking stock, on the ground....PM taking overview of flood relief operations at INS Rajali, Arakkonam,” the official Twitter handle of the PMO posted.

Earlier, the PM had met and discussed regarding the situation and the result of the rescue operations that are taking place at Chennai with Parliamentary affairs minister Venkaiah Naidu, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.

Thousands remained homeless and the rescue operations were safely conducting by the Army, Navy, Coast Guard, NDRF and DRF people.

“The biggest challenge is to find a way to clear the inundated airport and main roads,” said Anurag Gupta at the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) in New Delhi.

There is no way to find the track of the rail and all the trains through Chennai and from Chennai were stooped and diverted to other routes.

“The entire state machinery has collapsed. Most officials are forced to sit at home. It’s a very frustrating situation,” said a home ministry official, requesting anonymity.
