Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday congratulated the newly elected President of Myanmar, U Htin Kyaw.
The PM wrote on Twitter:
“ Congratulations and best wishes to U Htin Kyaw on being elected President of Myanmar! Will work together to strengthen India-Myanmar ties”
U Htin Kyaw was elected President of the neighbouring nation on Tuesday. He is a close aide of National League for Democracy (NLD) President and Burmese states woman Aung San Suu Kyi.
