PM Modi Pays Tribute to 'Vishwa Manav' Ambedkar

Paying homage to Bharat Ratna Dr Bhimrao Ambedkaron his 125th birth anniversary, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said that the architect of the Indian Constitution was a 'Vishwa Manav', who devoted his life in service of the poor and the marginalised.

"On his Jayanti, I bow to the venerable Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar. Jai Bhim.," Prime Minister Modi tweeted.

The Prime Minister also said that Dr Ambedkar always believed in the power of education.

"His economic vision was unique, with a strong emphasis on welfare of the farmer as well as worker," he said.

Nation is today commemorating the 125th birth anniversary of the Dr Ambedkar.

Main function will be held in the lawns of the Parliament house complex where political leaders and peoples from different walks of life will be paying floral tributes at the statue of Dr Ambedkar.

Functions will also be organised all over the country to remember his contribution to nation building, especially in drafting the Constitution. The day is also being observed as Social Harmony Day.

Congratulating the people on the occasion, Social justice and Empowerment Minister Thaawar Chand Gehlot said that Babasaheb laid the foundation of social reforms in the country in true sense, adding that people should resolve to strengthen social harmony in the country which will be a true tribute to him.
