Modi who has inaugurated the fully technical and advanced Parliament house in Afghanistan has suddenly turned his way to Lahore, Pakistan to meet his counterpart Nawaz Sharif.
After his take off from Afghanistan, many expected him in India but he took turn to Lahore which was very surprising incident for both country delegates.
Even Nawaz stunned with his visit to Lahore. This shows the guts of Narendra Modi.
The Indians were not the only ones caught off-guard. Pakistan foreign secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry hastily abandoned a round of golf to make it to the Sharif home town of Raiwind. While he made it, NSA Gen Nasser Janjua was not present at the discussions.
Indian ambassador T C A Raghavan hurried from Islamabad but did not reach Lahore on time. He had changed course and headed directly for Raiwind. The Pakistan PM is understood to have asked him how many red lights he jumped on the way.
The bold, and some would say risky, move to divert to Lahore did not surprise some senior BJP leaders though. They said it typically reflected Modi's confidence levels and his sense of political timing.
The Prime Minister himself is believed to have made the point that India-Pakistan meetings need to de-hyped and the bar of expectations lowered. The entire exercise had to be made more "normal" to ensure better results.
