For the first time, terror organization Al Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) has directly mentioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a video message released by its publicity wing As-Sahab. AQIS chief Maulana Asim Umar, who is said to be an Indian, in a video titled 'From France to Bangladesh: The Dust Will Never Settle Down', has referred to Narendra Modi in relation to what he claims to be is a war against Muslims. Umar talked about attack on Muslims "through World Bank and IMF policies, drone attacks, Charlie Hebdo's writings, UN charter, official sermons by muftis and Narendra Modi’s utterances which call for Muslims to be burnt alive." AQIS has also claimed responsibility for the assassination of several writers and intellectuals in Bangladesh and Pakistan, including Avijit Roy who was hacked to death in Dhaka in February. The SITE Intelligence Group has said that the Al Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) has claimed responsibility for the murder of American atheist blogger Avijit Roy in Bangladesh over two months ago. According to reports, AQIS leader Asim Umar is quoted, as saying in a video posted on Jihadist forums that his organization was responsible for the attack. Roy was hacked to death by two assailants with machetes on the streets of Dhaka in February while returning from a book fair with his wife. The SITE is a website in the United States that monitors extremist groups. A Bangladesh Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) force spokesman said the AQIS claim has to be verified to deemed to be correct. Al Qaeda leader Ayman Al-Zawahiri announced the creation of AQIS and introduced Asim Umar as its leader in a video posted online in September 2014. The wing was announced when the terror group said Myanmar, Bangladesh and Assam were some of the key areas of operation.
