Thousands of office-goers in Mumbai were stranded on Friday morning as services on the busy suburban Central Railways were disrupted by protests between Diva and Mumbra. Protesting against the delayed services at 8:30 am hundreds of agitators resorted to stone pelting and blocked the track. The protest which started on the tracks soon got violent with pelting stones and damaging property. At least three vehicles, including a police van, were torched by the protesters. The problem started with a technical fault in the pantograph of a local train near Thakurli station and this led to bunching of trains and delays of more than half an hour.
