At a time when same-sex relations are still considered a taboo in the nation, an NRI has opened the first ‘gay marriage’ bureau in India. Chicago-based entrepreneur Benhur Samson claims that the marriage bureau would genuinely help those who have the sexual preference still considered taboo in third world.

Samson, who runs a surrogacy agency in United States, was clicked by the idea of opening a marriage bureau when he met gays looking for committed partners. It was then he realized that India has 25 lakh strong gay population, who would also be aspiring to begin a family life.

The marriage bureau would help Indians find partners in homeland, as well as abroad. Samson opines that a large number of NRI gays want to get married to their Indian counterparts since they are considered to be more loyal towards relationships.

The firm has sought help of one of the most influential gays, Manvendrasingh Gohil, the crown prince of Rajpipla. Gohil would counsel those who enroll in the bureau to start their marriage life with same sex partners.

However, the Samson’s innovative firm would charge you an exorbitant fee for availing their services. Interested person would need to pay $5,000 to register himself. This would include the fee of lawyers who would be roped in to get the marriages legally cleared. The rationale behind charging such a high amount, Samosn explains, is to offer their services to only those gays who genuinely aspire to begin a family life.

Within two months of the launch, the gay marriage has received 24 entries and more than 250 inquiries.
