Donning a pet dog the national flag on the republic day has landed a man in the diamond city Surat in a legal tangle.

The Umra police station here lodged a complaint case against Bhimsinh Gohil under section 2 of the prevention of insult to national honour act 1971, last evening.

Bhimsinh had wrapped a tricolor on his German shepherd breed dog during a special pet run organized on the occasion of the republic day on January 26. The pets photo was published in all the leading local papers and Bhimsinh was very happy about it. But he never thought that it would ultimately land him in trouble.

Police today said that one Ajij Arif Cyclewala had given a written complaint in this regard claiming it to be an insult to the national flag. The FIR was finally lodged last evening. Later, police have arrested him according to that complaint.
