A 16-year-old girl, who works as a domestic help at residence of a Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) faculty member, was allegedly gangraped by four youth in South Delhi’s Munirka area on Monday evening.
Based on the girl’s complaint, the Delhi police has registered a rape case and conducted medical examination of the victim. The medical report is still awaited.
According to the police, a case of gangrape has registered on Tuesday on the complaint of the minor girl who lives in the JNU campus, where she has been working at the residence of a professor for several years.
“the girl left the professor’s home for the local market. Three persons in a white car offered her lift, which she accepted. They took her a place in Munirka and offered drinks laced with additive. She fell unconscious. One more accused joined the three who were in the car and all four of them then raped her,” said the police, adding that the victim in her statement had also said that she knew the person who had offered her lift.
Late on Monday evening, the accused dropped the victim outside the JNU campus. “A case has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (Posco) and investigation is going. Four persons were detained,” added the police.
Meanwhile, hundreds of JNU students protested outside local police station on Tuesday evening demanding justice for the victim. They also demanded action against the professor who employed a minor as domestic help.
