While many of her contemporaries like Anushka Sharma and Ranbir Kapoor have entered the realm of film production, actor Deepika Padukone says that she has no intentions of donning the producer’s hat. It is the work behind the scenes that interests her. “I don’t want to be the money person. I don’t want to have anything to do with the profit or the success. I prefer doing the backend work instead of doing the work of a producer,” says Deepika, adding, “I am not saying that I will be doing this soon, but if I ever get the chance, I would enjoy doing the work of a line producer. I love filling (papers), taking print outs, making folders and sticking post-its … making sure that people are fed on time. That is the kind of production I am interested in.” While her films Happy New Year (2014) and Chennai Express (2013) are touted as the highest grossers, Deepika says that the success of a film goes much beyond box-office figures. “I do feel that in the last couple of years, a lot of it (filmmaking) has become only about the money. It is disheartening when we attach a figure and say that only if a film makes this kind of business, it is successful. We have created a perception in the minds of people that only a `100-200 crore film is successful. It is all very relative. For me, a film is successful if it has repeat value that is, if the audience would like to watch it again and again,” says the actor, who is all geared up for the release of Piku.
