PM asks HM to put larger pictorial warnings on tobacco products

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday directed the Health Ministry to increase the size of the pictorial warning on tobacco packs to 65 per cent and not to take into account the views of people with conflict of interest. A row was sparked off after the Parliamentary panel shot down the NDA government's decision to increase the pictorial warning to 80 per cent from 40 per cent. Health Minister JP Nadda had said, "We will go by Parliament panel recommendation on pictorial warning. The issue has come about the pictoral warning its because of the subordinate legislative committee of Parliament. They have said there are certain issues which they want to deliberate.
