Modi pays rich tribute to Mahatma Gandhi

On the occasion of the 67th death anniversary of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday paid his obeisance to the great man.

"Salutations to beloved Bapu on his Punya Tithi", he said in a tweet.

The prime minister also remembered the martyrs who laid down their lives for the nation and urged people to pay respect to them.

"Remembering the valour of all martyrs who gave their lives for the nation. Their sacrifices remain etched in our memory", Modi said.

"Let us as a nation stand together in silence for two minutes at 11 am today as a mark of respect towards our brave martyrs", he added.

Modi had on Friday, visited Raj Ghat to pay his tributes there, as had several other ministers. Modi also saluted the thousands of martyrs who courageously laid down their lives fighting for the nation, on the occasion of Martyr’s Day.
