PM Narandra Modi on Monday hit back at Congress for it's campaign against rising intolerance in the country. Addressing a rally in Bihar's Purner, Modi reminded Congress about 1984 riots against Sikhs in the wake of then PM Indira Gandhi's assassination.
Narendra Modi said, Do you remember what happened in Delhi on November 2, 1984? Sikhs were killed. There were serious charges against Congress leaders. "It's ironical that Congress is now talking about tolerance".
Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi are expected to meet President Pranab Mukherjee to bring his attention towards growing intolerance in the country.
"The Congress president and vice-president along with senior party leaders including some Members of Parliament are expected to meet Mukherjee this week," Congress party said on Sunday. The two top leaders along with senior leaders and MPs are expected to tell the President about the growing concern over the issue and urge him to advice the government to act firmly. They are also expected to take out a march to the Rashtrapati Bhavan, sources said.
