India’s giant soft drink brand PepsiCo says goodbye to the Indian Premier League due to match fixing’s which is a big disrepute.

This beverage giant who is a title sponsor of IPL has sent a notice to the Indian Cricket board expressing its intention to withdraw from IPL complaining the issue of spot fixing.

According to the cricket sources, “the company has said in its notice that the decision was related to issues that have brought the game into ‘disrepute’”.

PepsiCo has informed its decision to the IPL’s chief operating officer Sundar Raman about its withdrawal.

The brand PepsiCo had paid Rs 396 crore for the period 2013-17. If sources are to be believed Raman has informed regarding the issue to the newly elected BCCI president Shashank Manoha.

It was known that PepsiCo has earlier announced regarding the move and the company did not even responding to the calls and messages by the BCCI.

“Last season, Pepsi wanted to withdraw, especially in the aftermath of the spot-fixing case but the BCCI managed to convince it to stick on for another year. However, this time it was firm that it will not continue its association with the IPL, more so after the Lodha Committee recommended the suspension of Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. The conflict of interest issues also had an impact,” said the IPL source.
