Former Sri Lankan who had a very good playing experience in presence of Kumara Sangakkara is none other than Mahela Jayawardene.
Mahela had recently honoured with the most prestigious award of lifetime membership to the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC).
The Lord’s Ground official twitter account tweeted as, “Jayawardene was the latest inductee to MCC.”
The happy Mahela said, “It is an honour to be awarded Honorary Life Membership of MCC. It’s a great Club and I’m privileged to now be a part of it. I’ve always enjoyed playing at Lord’s, and the MCC Members have always given me a great reception, so to be given this accolade is extra special. The Club does brilliant work both in the UK and overseas and I’m delighted to now be a part of it.”
MCC is the cricket club in London founded in the year 1787. MCC has 18,000 full members and it requires all members green signal foe the new membership in the club.
Many super stars like Wasim Akram, Kumar Sangakkara, Sunil Gavaskar, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Adam Gilchrist, Inzamam-ul-haq, etc are the members of the cricket club.
The current British Prime Minister David Cameroon is also a member in this club. His name was also considered after waiting list and after re-contact they have included his name in full membership.
