New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum equalled his highest T20 score after smashing an unbeaten 158 off 64 balls for the Birmingham Bears against Derbyshire Falcons in a Natwest T20 Blast match at Edgbaston Cricket Ground. His knock included 13 fours and 11 mighty sixes as he became the first player for the Bears to register a hundred. McCullum also became the highest scorer in the Natwest T20 competition, surpassing Luke Wright’s 153 for Sussex in 2014. McCullum reached the magical three-figure mark off just 42 balls and equalled his record of the second highest score in T20, behind Chris Gayle’s 175 in the Indian Premier League in 2013. McCullum had smashed unbeaten 73-ball 158 for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the first ever IPL game in 2008. Courtesy McCullum’s thrilling century Derbyshire posted mammoth 242 for two on board and eventually won the game by 60 runs.
