The great cricketer of Sri Lanka Kumara Sangakkara was offered a High Commissioners post in the UK. He was offered as the envoy of Sri Lanka in Britain.

On his retirement day, the Sri Lankan president Maithripala Sirisena surprised him by offering the post. When Sangakkara was asked about the surprise he told that, he was very much surprised and “I actually just heard it and it got me surprised. So I have to go think about it and really have a proper chat with his excellency as well” said the 37-year-old.

In the end of his 15 year cricket career, he faced a bad end as his team couldn’t win the last match with India. On his retirement emotional speech Sanga told, "People ask me about the big achievements, the hundreds, the World Cup wins, but I just look up at the box, all my friends over the last 30 years have come up here on a Monday to watch me play. To be able to go back to a family that will love me whether I win or lose, that is my greatest achievement."

He also advised the captain Angelo Mathews, "I hope you just work hard and enjoy the sport, sport you will play only for a short time, it comes and goes," he said. "But don't be afraid. Take pride in what you do, don't be afraid to lose when you are searching for a win and keep Sri Lanka's flag flying high."
