Heavy rains in Tamil Nadu is incresing the death poll day by day. With the recent report it has been said that the death poll is shpwing that 72 people are found to be daed and many have them are moved to the rescue places.

Around 50,000 people are kept under shelters and are moved to the relief camps in the state.

Anticipating huge rains all the schools, offices and shops are closed throughout the state. "And therefore with the downpour which should have been spread across weeks having come in one go, any amount of preventive measures cannot prevent water logging or damage due to rains," said the chief minister of Tamil Nadu Jayalalitha.

Jaya further added, "Taking note of the onset of northeast nonsoon I had issued necessary orders well in advance to government officials, district collectors, senior police officials, district superintendents of police. Government officials had also paid heed and taken all necessary precautions."

"Out of 683 panchayats in the district, we have restored power connections in over 675 panchayats and the damage along the highways including Cuddalore -Chidamabaram and Cuddalore-Kumbaonam highways have been set right. Over a lakh food packets were distributed through the day to ensure that people who were working on rebuilding their houses need not worry about their food for the day," said the rural development minister.
