Are you surprised or wondered listening to the news of paying tax for the luxury wedding. Yes, this is the new rule implemented by the Karnataka government and a private bill was moved by the former Speaker K R Ramesh Kumar in the Legislative Assembly in order to stop the exclusive luxury weddings.

It has implemented a new rule named as “Karnataka State Wedding Karnataka Marriages (Registration and Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2015.”

If this act will come into effect then the marriages whose expenditure exceeds 5 lakh and 1000 guests have to pay a luxury tax to the government.

The law minister TB Jayachnadra said, “Not only do they spend lavishly but they also waste a large quantity of food. It has influenced people in rural areas so much, that they sell property to afford such unnecessary expenditure.”

All these collected luxury tax will be used for the marriages of the poor people.
