Yes, there is mother Teresa in Nepal with the name Anuradha Koirala. Koirala is a Nepalese social activist who started and founded Maiti Nepal which is a non-profit organization in Nepal which works hard for rescuing and helping the victims of sex trafficking and diseased.

Maiti Nepal meaning Mothers Home in Nepal is really a mother’s house where one can be treated in the way they are looked after at their own houses.

Maiti Nepal operates a rehabilitation home in Kathmandu also has transit homes along Indo-Nepal border.

Women who are rescued in sex trafficking and who are diseased with HIV AIDS positive can stay in the home as long until they are able to go back their home.

If their parents or society will not accept them as their child, then they can stay with them until they can take stand on their own expenditure.

In between 1993 to 2011 they have saved a total of 12,000 women and girls. With the help of police and higher authorities they will send the rescued women to their families with full safety.

For this brave and appreciable work Koirala has received the Courage of Conscience Award from The Peace Abbey in Sherborn, Massachusetts in August 2006.

Anuradha also won the CNN Hero of the year Award in 2010. The US government also helped the Maiti Nepal with $500,000 rupees as fund.
