Now-a-days committing minor rapes are becoming so common that even if they are punished so severely they tend to repeat the same.
We recently came across two minor rapes which shook Delhi with intense fear. These minor rapes are not putting to an end after many protests and different laws came into being.
Keeping this in mind the Supreme Court has said that those committing sexual crimes on minors are equal to animals and also declared that they don’t deserve any mercy.
"It is an unpardonable act. Those persons are animals who sexually assault minor girls. They deserve no leniency from courts," the court ruled, striking down the appeal.
Yesterday, the Madras High court recommended castration (surgical loss of Male private part) as punishment for the child sex abusers.
Justice N Kirubakaran said that Castration will give us magical results and added further as "Present law is ineffective in dealing with such criminals and judiciary could not keep its hands folded and be a mute spectator, especially when the recent happenings of gang-rape of children across India are reported.”
"The suggestion to castrate may look barbaric. But barbaric criminals needed barbaric punishment. The very thought of punishment should deter the criminal from committing the offence," said the Judge.
