Maharashtra: 22 Passengers Killed in Road Mishap

Almost 22 passengers have lost their lives and 25 others were severely injured when a Maharashtra State RTC bus and a container truck collided each other on on the Dhule Chalisgaon highway around 1:30 pm on Thursday. According to police, the accident has been taken place on Thursday afternoon near Dahivad Chinchgavhan phata, on Chalisgaon highway, in Jalgaon district. The impact of the collision was so big that the bus was spliced from its posterior side, causing fatal injuries to the passengers. 22 persons died and 15 others were seriously injured. The driver of the container is also among those who died on the spot. Some of the injured has been rushed to the Dhule civil hospital and some have been taken to rural hospital in Chalisgon. The police have filed a case and are investigating further. The highway which does not have a divider and accidents has been a common occurrence in this highway. On earlier occasions, the villagers of the area have demanded divider and speed breaker on the road. Meanwhile DSP Keshav said  “So far, we have information about 22 deaths in the Chalisgaon civil hospital. Other injured victims have been rushed to hospitals in neighbouring towns, including Dhule.” He added  “The accident occurred around 1.30 pm when the speeding container truck rammed into the stationary bus of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation.”
