IAS Officer DK Ravi's death: Batchmates Seek Fair Inquiry

A group of IAS officers have sought fair enquiry into the mysterious death of their batchmate Ravi in Karnataka. "The response from across our batch has been for a fair enquiry into the causes leading into D K Ravi death," his batchmates said in a representation to central IAS officers association here. Ravi, a 2009 batch IAS officer, who had taken on the sand mafia in Karnataka was found dead in mysterious circumstances on Monday at his residence in Bengaluru. "We have received the representation from Ravi's batchmates and it is under examination," association's secretary and senior IAS officer Sanjay R Bhoosreddy told to media. He said a meeting of the executive committee of the association will be called to ascertain future course of action. Some of the senior serving IAS officers here have sought CBI enquiry into his death. "There is a need for CBI enquiry to look into the causes of Ravi's death. He was a bright and honest officer," a senior IAS officer said. He said IAS officers have been facing threats from land and mining mafia. "Even in young age, we used to face problem from mining and land mafia. But now the officers have started raising their heads and they have gathered the guts to challenge the authority," the officer said. The matter of Ravi's death and demands for a fair probe was discussed in the Parliament also. Home Minister Rajnath has also offered CBI enquiry to look into the IAS officer's death. If the state government recommends a CBI probe, the Centre will immediately order an enquiry by the central investigating agency, Singh had said in Lok Sabha on Thursday.
