Politicians, who are in a good position now also tasted poor interval at their childhood. Here is the list of political leaders who hails from a lower economical family and established themselves in a superlative position.

Narendra Modi:

Narendra Damodardas Modi who is the current and 15th honorable Prime Minister of India was born in a family of grocers. The 64-year-old modi was the third of six children born.

At Vadnagar railway station his father used to sell tea. Later, accompanying his brother he ran the stall near bus terminal. Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat from 2001 to 2014.

Mamata Banerjee:

Chief Minister of West Bengal since 2011, Mamata hails from a Bengali Brahmin family. Banerjee belongs to a lower middle class family.

Her family was so poor that Mamata’s father died due to lack of medical treatment at the age of 17. She is the chairperson of her own party All India Trinamool Congress in 1997.

Manik Sarkar:

The “Cleanest and the Honest Chief Minister in the Country”, Manik Sarkar donates his full salary to his party. According to some official sources his salary is the lowest salary among all the CM’s in India.

As he donates his entire salary to party, in turn gets 5,000/month as his allowances. Sarkar’s father was a tailor and his mother was a Provincial employee. He is the only CM who doesn’t have his own car and house on his name.

Jitan Ram Manjhi:

Jitan served as 23rd Chief Minister of Bihar for a period of nine months. Manjhi has been a member of Bihar legislative assembly since 1980.

Ram hails from Gaya district, Bihar and his parents were farmers. Being a Dalit, he had previously served as a minister for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
