Chairman and Chief Executive of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg right after a month he hosted Indian Prime Minister Modi at Silicon Valley headquarters the CEO has reached India to hold a Q & A at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi.

Here are the highlights of his speech:

It is always great to be here, we talk about our mission in Facebook to connect people. More than 3 million have marked themselves safe via Facebook after earthquake in Afghanistan. India also has so many users on Facebook and WhatsApp which is also part of our community. So they are part of the people we want to connect. The second part is India still has so many people without Internet access.

Internet can provide education, health information, and access to job listings. So the research has shown for every 10 people who get access to the Internet 1 new job is created and 1 person is lifted out of poverty. So India has tremendous potential for that. Connecting people in India is one of the most important things we can do for the world. It is also about the ideas that people, students, entrepreneurs have here today that the world doesn't have access to.

These town halls are an important part of how we run Facebook. Within the company, we encourage employees to ask questions. India is one of the most important markets for Facebook on why there’s so much interest in India.15 million connected to the Internet thanks to internet.org. Entrepreneurs and students are robbed of opportunity to innovate if they are not connected.

Our mission is to connect all the people in the world and that can’t be done without the second biggest democracy in the world. Around 4 billion people in the world still don’t have internet access, mainly due to lack of network, affordability and awareness. For every 10 people that get access to internet, 1 job is created & 1 person is lifted out of poverty.
