Justice T. S. Thakur has sworn-in as 43rd chief Justice of India by eth President Pranab Mukherjee at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Thursday.

He had occupied the chair after the retirement of the former Chief Justice H L Dattu.

The 63-year-old Tirat Singh Thakur, as a Supreme Court judge he headed the bench which handled the spot fixing scam in cricket.

Sardha Scam, multi-crore chit fund scam was also headed by Thakur. NRHM scam was also teamed by Thakur.

He would retire from his chair as CJI on January 2017. He joined the chamber of his father as a Pleader.

Thakur’s father was the former deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Devi Das Thakur.

Designated as senior advocate in 1990 and was appointed as additional judge of the J &K high court in the year 1994.

Thakur also served as Judge of High Court in Karnataka. In 1995 he was appointed as permanent judge and was transferred to Delhi High Court in 2004.
